Obviously you get what you pay for. Awesome tv. Check out Fry’s electronics. I got mine for 1899.00. Yes the 46″ 8000. Check it out.

5 Stars Great Set and Great Service from Amazon!
This review will focus more on my experience with Amazon rather than the technical specs of the TV itself as there are plenty of videophiles who have written much more in depth reviews than I could ever hope to write.

So I’m a Samsung guy through and through. I’ve purchased a number of Samsung LCDs previously from Amazon, so when the time came to step up to the LED series I went with Amazon of course. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my final check out price was even lower than I had expected which further reaffirmed to me that I was buying from the right vendor…again.

The set arrived on a Tuesday afternoon. And after setting up the TV, I was amazed at just how slick this set looked in person. It’s just cutting edge product design that just grabs your attention. So I immediately calibrated the set and turned on No Country for Old Men in Bluray. Needless to say, the picture knocked my socks off. But to my disappointment, there were blue and white lights bleeding from the bezel at the top of the screen. At first I thought maybe the TV just needed some time to settle, but hours later the bleeding remained. I’ve bought many TVs in the past and have never had any problems, so I was anxious regarding how to resolve this situation.

So I called Amazon and was ready for battle. But I was immediately reassured that the situation would be resolved. The service person was courteous and helpful. And I’m happy to report that after a following few simple steps (all of which were just to ensure it wasn’t merely a setting issue), Amazon immediately shipped out a new replacement set the following day. Upon later inspection, it turns out that the screen was not perfectly flat but, instead, had some minor dimples towards the top bezel which caused the bleeding. It seems that even the slightest imperfections will become magnified when it comes to such technologically advanced sets.

Problems aside, the picture is absolutely stunning. No motion blur or “ghosting” of any kind. The built in speakers are “ok” considering the thickness of the set, but an external system would be ideal. And what can I say about the Amazon service? Fantastic. When you make a big purchase, you just want to know that you’ll be taken care of at the end of the day should the unexpected happen. And that’s exactly what Amazon did. Purchase wisely and happy viewing.

Upgraded from my 11 year old Quasar regular TV to this Samsung 8000 series LED. Wow. It is very, very cool. The image presented takes your breath away. HD and Blu-Ray are incredible. TV is very thin, uses little energy and is overall a terrific investment. Samsung makes the best TVs, or so I heard, until I bought this unit a few weeks ago. Now I know…it’s true! Very pricey investment, but worth it in my opinion. This TV is just awesome. It hangs on the wall like a picture too. We use the stand because of earthquake issues of hanging a TV on the wall…love the blue light on the bottom of the TV. This is a fabulous investment! I paid $2100 from Best Buy during their Labor day sale….so look for deals, folks. Best Buy offered 3 years no interest, with a free calibration. Amazon price is good too.

2 Stars You may want to think it over…
I agree that the picture quality is quite nice. There are a few things you should know before you buy Samsung’s LED TV, though. First (and I was not aware of this problem until AFTER I bought) the TV issues a loud humming sound that, particularly during quiet moments of a show or movie, is very annoying and distracting. You needn’t be close to the set to hear it; the hum fills the room. I’ve tried various settings; nothing does away with it. I contacted Samsung regarding it. They won’t even reply. Do a Google search; you’ll find this problem is common with this TV. Also, and this too is something you won’t find out until after you buy, but the LED screen is subject to burn-in. When watching something not in HD, you must adjust screen size in order to compensate for picture distortion. Some settings that do not occupy the whole screen, but sharpen the picture, you are warned against using for more than 2 hours as screen burn-in can (and will) occur; you’ll have permanent bars burned into both sides of the picture. It says so in the manual, but you won’t see the manual until after you’ve bought the set.

I am deeply disappointed with this expensive purchase. If you have a Samsung LED TV and don’t have the annoying hum, or better still, have found a way to get rid of it, I’d love to know. In lieu of a solution to the problem, and Samsung’s apparent lack of interest in dealing with it, I cannot in good faith recommend this TV. I am very disappointed, and out a lot of money.

5 Stars Exceeded Expectations
The picture is almost 3D like in appearance and the installation “plug and play” seamless. Delivered by a second party distributor in perfect condition with a helpful truck driver to unpack in minutes and inspect. Highly recommend this product and Amazon arranged delivery.
