4 Stars Remote is awfully inconvenient!
HD is beatiful. Analog is not good. The worst thing is remote. Its bottom round shape is irritating as you cannot operate it with one hand if it’s on the table. You HAVE to use both hands on most operations! Pretty idiotic! Sound is cheap.
But again, the HD picture is inspiring and leaves you wishing all channels are in 1080i HD (beats my 32″ Sharp Aquos 720p by a mile).
4 Stars Great Monitor
Very good monitor to replace my 19″in LCD Monitor. The HDTV tuner responses a little bit slow and build-in speaker is not very good qulity. But over all a good product for its decent price.

4 Stars Excellent TV, reasonable monitor
As a TV, very stylish and nice. However, I bought this product to use as a monitor. It’s ok if you don’t care about getting perfect colors, as myself. However, even so, I had a hard time to set up the best options such that my eyes don’t hurt and the bright is reasonable…
5 Stars True 5 Stars
This monitor is exceptional! The picture is amazing. Other people reviewed that there was no horizontal adjustment which is not at all true. Before you put the base on, you pull off the attachment which has a metal plate that can be adjusted to change the tilt. Only gripe I have is that I wanted to use analog audio while using DVI which isn’t possible. The UI is extension with many options for every input. The picture loss when moving left, right, up, or down really isn’t that bad. It’s just like any other high end LCD tv. I’ve watched a couple movies streaming NetFlix sitting about 6″ away and have been more than satified with the definition and picture quality. I highly recommend this for either a TV, gaming station, or editing because the size of this monitor allows for a large area of editing space. Samsung is this shiiiiatt.

4 Stars Great buy!
This flatscreen is everything I was looking for in a tv for my bedroom. I love the 3 alarms on any day of the week you choose and channel and even volume. Only con is the speakers aren’t that great, but I expected that from other reviews I read. Overall great buy!
5 Stars Excellent TV!
This is a top notch HDTV for an excellent price… well below the equivalent at a Best Buy.
To begin with, this TV is attractive even when off. When on, the screen is bright and crisp. I’ve had no problems using it with either my PS3 or Wii… the “game mode” seems to do its job very well in minimizing the lag common in HDTVs. Assassin’s Creed looks amazing, as does Mario Galaxy.
The TV has very full customizeability of picture, and I’ve had no problem making dark movies bright enough.
Contrary to some of the reviews here, I think the speakers are very satisfactory. They don’t have a completely full bass sound, no, but they are plenty loud for my apartment. Despite a lack of deep bass the speakers give generally full sound, and do a good job mimicking surround output. A little tip – turning on the “true surround” feature lowers the volume by quite a bit. Sound a little quiet? Then turn off the surround setting and “settle” with excellent stereo sound… at volume 45 the TV is plenty loud (and it goes to 100). I compared the sound of various TVs at Best Buy and I honestly think this little unit has phenomenal sound for its size class… if you want better speakers built into a ~3″ deep flat screen, well you are probably going to have to go for a fatter and larger TV. What do you want for such a slim unit?
The TV not having 1080P output isn’t much of a con… most TVs this size do not offer that, and when they “do” it is usually just a downscaling of 1080P signal to the screen rather than truly displaying it. 720P and 1080i look pretty darn slick compared to a CRT analogue TV, let me tell you! Again, the PS3 looks awesome.
So – good sound for the size-class, crisp bright screen, high contrast, good performance on games… all for ~$[...]!
It should have an S-video input. I’m not sure why it doesn’t. That made me a little sad, but I knew it didn’t when buying it. Just upgrade to component or HDMI where possible if you’ve got an s-video device
I have one real con for this TV – NOWHERE did I see this indicated – the TV has a completely unadjustable stand. On larger TVs, the stands don’t have to be adjustable because their viewing angles are so large. But a smaller TV at 22″ with a 160 degree viewing angle… it really does need to be able to tilt. I have it up on a dresser so I tucked some cardboard under the rear of the base to give it a slight tilt down. Thankfully the bright screen and decent viewing angles make this an acceptable arrangement, but if you have an off-optimal location for your TV consider the lack of adjustability when buying.
Still – excellent TV with better picture than a lot of the ones I’ve seen in stores. Definite steal at this price
5 Stars Great picture. Sound too.
I love this tv. It’s light as a feather. (my first skinny tv) The box has a handle. I got home late and thought I’d have to detach my slam-on-you screen door to bring it in from the porch like any bulky box I’ve gotten from amazon. But nooooo. The slender box was left between the screen door and the front door, I grabbed the handle and strolled into the house like I was carrying a brief case
I hate directions but only had to read a half a page to get it turned on and pulling in all the “air” channels here with rabbit ears that have one ear broken in half. Soon, maybe I’ll read about the details
But I love that I didn’t have to. (sorry about that grammar thingy)
The picture is sharp, the color is true, and the sound is perfectly fine.
The remote is very well laid out and even works when I point it the other way, something I’m really not used to because I’ve been having some annoying remote problems for a while now.
BTW. Thanks Amazon, for being smart enough to give me so much free shipping… still I’m kinda confused that I can buy Balance bars cheaper at Walmart AND know the expiration date.
But still, great buying experience.
4 Stars Samsung 22″ LCD TV
This is my first LCD TV so I can’t compare it with other LCDs. The picture is bright and clear and the color really great. Compared to my other TV, it is super. The sound is lacking bass, but is very good with voice. I can hear and understand much better with this TV compared to the 15 year old Samsung that went to the trash. We are using this TV in the kitchen and dining room. I made a lazy susan to fit the base so we can easily turn it to watch in either room.
5 Stars great quality right out of the box
Purchased through Amazon….Just hook up the cable wires, plug this thingie in, and you have a great looking, extroadinary color HDTV. Nice size for our bedroom….great design, takes up little space. What more can you want…..very very nice product.

5 Stars Ususal Samsung quality
This HDTV has the usual quality of most Samsung TV’s. I have several other Samsung HDTV’s and this one continues to hold my confidence in their product. Excellent picture and good sound.
4 Stars The price was right for this TV
I like this LCD TV. The picture and sound are nice and clear. But unless you sit right in front of the TV, you’ll see some kind of faded pictures. Also, don’t try to use 50 foot composite video cable if your TV is 50 ft away from your STB/DVD because what you’ll see is a poor picture. Use component video cables if you can afford. Don’t use CAT6 to make component video cables; they won’t work at least for this TV. I made three 50 ft component video cables using telephone cables, and they work fine. Good luck.
1 Star Failed at 3 months
First, the LCD TV screen went dead after only 3 months . People on the internet say it is because of Samsung supplier changing capacitors quality in the power supply. Then I could not return and replace at Walmart where I bought it. Then after navigating the difficult service request web pages on the Samsung site, I finally put in my credit card number for shipping costs back to the service center 200 miles away, and their server froze and did not complete the transaction. Now I do not know if the service request went through and I will get the shipping label I paid for, or if I have to start over and go through the whole process again. I think it is time to take this to the people, and write some poor reviews on the web. Shame on you Samsung!
5 Stars I Love This TV!!
We have A 32″ samsung in the Living Room. So I got the 26″ for my bedroom. Item shipped Extremely fast. Thank you amazon.
4 Stars Excellent HD quality!
Great quality and sound, very satisfied with my purchase. The only complaint I have is that there is a long delay in first turning the TV on.

1 Star A miserable experience
My 32 inch Samsung LCD was great for five months then died a spectacular death. While watching it one day, a huge spark arced out of the top of the TV, and it was absolutely dead. That was the start of my trouble as warranty service was horrendous. I made nearly two dozen phone calls to Samsung, their warranty service contractor and the various technicians. Scheduled service visits would result in no one showing up. It took nearly a month and a half to get replacement parts installed. I’ll never buy a Samsung product again.
3 Stars TV Not Suitable for Large Viewing Audience
I purchased this TV 1 month ago to replace a Sony Trinitron 32″ TV I have had for 20 years. It was still working and had the most beautiful picture! I am satisfied with this TV, but my main reason for rating this item low is because of the washed out look at off angle viewing. This TV has an awesome picture if you are sitting right in front of the TV. Stand off even a foot and it washes out immediately.
PROS: No sound problems; good price, easy set up
CONS: Washed out off angle viewing, lag time on start up
If I had known about the off angle viewing problem I would not have purchased this TV for my living room, maybe for my bedroom. When you have company only 1 person is getting the incredible picture that this TV does have. I also find it amazing that only 1 other reviewer mentioned this problem. But once again, for the price, with the Blu Ray DVD player and free shipping, it was a decent purchase for a bedroom (maybe). Oh and I did not get white glove service, they did unpack the TV and plug it in and left me with the clean up mess and hook up to do.
5 Stars Amazing TV
This is my first HDtv and was not expecting the difference to be so noticeable. Just watching the HD channels on cable you can easily see the difference in sharpness and contrast. This is not just for sports but everything. If you have a PS3, this is a must. Has made me go back to play old games just because they look so beautiful.
Warning.. Out of the box the settings are not quite optimal, and it does make standard digital broadcasts look pretty bad, but it definitely benefited from calibrating. You can either search for someone else’s settings on google or use a calibration device.
3 Stars Not bad for under $500
For the price this is a nice tv. I have a 1080p Samsung and there is a difference in picture quality compared to this 720p. The colors are brighter and crisper in the 1080p, but the picture is ok in 720p.The only problem is you must look at picture straight on, because from side angle you see a picture but it has very little color. This tv is made for a small bedroom, because factory sound is not to loud
5 Stars Might as well get the best
After comparing to the 32 inch samsung from the 3 series below and to comparable lg 32 inch sets I made my decision and went with this. I couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking around and this is in your options, don’t waste your time spend a little extra for a tv you know you’ll be happy with.

5 Stars Great TV and Amazon Service
I wanted to write a positive review after receiving my 860 on Wednesday. I have purchased a lot through Amazon with no problems, and this is no different. I love the free shipping, no tax, and I didn’t know it also included white glove service. They brought it into my home, unboxed it, set it up, and turned it on to make sure it was working properly and they left. I’ve read a lot before pulling the trigger, including AV forums. I too was worried about the “buzz”, I was hoping since I’m sea level, I wouldn’t have a problem. I’m not sure if that is the reason, the TV was made 09/09 in Tijuana Mexico. I don’t even hear the slightest of anything and I’m very happy with the quality and clarity. I hope everyone else gets a winner too.
4 Stars Great TV, But It Gets Toasty
My first HD TV, and I love it! Wow! Out of the box the color were amazingly rich. Thankfully I shopped around and got a free Sony 3.1 sound system with the TV because the sound from the TV was poor. However, what my wife and I thought everyone should know about this TV aside from the GORGEOUS picture is that it generates noticeable heat. We’ve had to lower the temperature on the theromstat when we’ve had people over to watch a game in order to keep the room at a pleasant temp. (But on the upside, I won’t be worried about needing a fire in the fireplace this winter!)
Oh and if you have sensitive ears like I do, there is a buzz, but I only hear it when the sound is off or I’ve got my head behind the tv.
5 Stars Great TV.
This TV is utterly beautiful…. that really is all I need to say but I will continue.
First off, if you want a large TV to hang on a wall, this is a great choice as it is only 55 pounds or so for a plasma and only about an inch thick. However, going past that, the picture quality is beautiful, with rich colors and high contrast. It is very bright but with no washout. I bought this at a best buy and was blown away at the comparison between this tv and Samsung LEDs and the 240hz LCDs, all running HD movies.
I’ve watched 2001 on this TV and it brought the initial fears back that the film gave me. I’ve played Wii, PS3, and XBOX on it and all look fantastic. Even regular cable tv looks quite fine without the “blown out” view that my father’s 65″ Mitsubishi CRT gives.
It also has some interesting interactive features, such it shows you cooking recipes and then has pictorial step-by-step directions… as a avid chef, they are actually quite good recipes.
The TV itself, for its size, is quite minimalistic. The clear edge is actually quite nice as it reflects light and distracts from any light off the actual screen. They claim this has the red touch of color, but I cannot tell at all….. That being said, the TV has almost no issues with glare… I have it sitting right next to a bay window and you can almost always see everything clearly.
4 Stars Great Picture, Mediocre Quality, Mixed Feelings
Let me start off my review by addressing the buzzing that is associated with this (and all 2009 “B” series) Samsung plasmas. Amazon currently (10/13/09) has this item under review, and is not shipping any new units because of multiple customer complaints. The notice claims that there may be a problem with their inventory, but I believe Amazon will discover the problem is not limited to their inventory. Samsung has a noticeable buzz that is well documented. Research this before purchasing. I ordered my first set, and received my replacement set, before Amazon put up this notice and stopped shipping this TV.
I ordered this TV in late September from Amazon, and had a significant buzz on that set. I exchanged it for another 50B860, and the buzz is still prominent. The buzz is exactly the same, though a bit quieter on the second set. I will probably keep the set, but am disappointed in Samsung’s quality. The buzz sounds similar to a failing flouresent light, and is emitted from the back of the television. It usually isn’t noticable over normal listening volume, and the tone varies slightly with the brightness of the picture. Wall mounting the set does make the buzz more noticable, which I would guess is from the echo produced from the wall.
The picture is great, and while researching TV’s my eye was always drawn to the Samsung sets. There is just something about the picture that I really like, which is why I am keeping the TV. The Samsung plasmas really excel in bright scenes, and can produce plenty of light and vibrant colors. Typical HDTV shows look fantastic. The 50b860 can produce deep blacks, but does have a tendency to lose some black-level detail in darker scenes. The blacks tend to get crushed, but I’ve been missing these blacks on my previous DLP anyway. If you watch a lot of dramas or dark movies, I would suggest having a look at the Panasonics as they produce better black levels.
The Anti-Glare filter is excellent. I have 3 windows in my viewing area, and never notice any glare in the picture. It is the best of any plasma I have seen, and is less reflective then Samsung’s 52B750 LCD (which I was also considering).
The speakers are lacking, but product plenty of volume for my environment. If replacing a half-way decent TV, the speakers will sound terrible for a couple of days. I’ve since become used to the weak sound, but will have a soundbar on my wishlist soon.
The 50b860 is feature rich, and has a lot of options that I will never use. I thought the TV was at the perfect price point for the picture and features, priced between Panasonic’s G and V series. With the buzzing defect, I would feel better having bought this TV closer to the G series price point. I feel it is priced to high to be shipping with noticeable buzzing. The buzzing also has me concerned with long-term reliability.
Amazon’s customer service was great during the return. They required a service ticket number from Samsung to ensure that Samsung is aware of their problems. After I obtained this, Amazon sent another TV out and the carrier picked up the defective set at the same time. The carrier was nice enough, but is definitely not as convenient as buying locally. They missed the first set’s 4-hour delivery window by an hour (keeping me waiting for 5 hours). The second set arrived with 5 minutes to spare of the 4 hour delivery window, several gouges in the box, and was wheeled to my door in the rain (no covering put over the box). I was very surprised that the second set worked at all (and actually better than the 1st).
I like the TV, and am likely less bothered by the buzzing sound then those with picky ears. I rated this TV a 4, but could easily see others rating it a 2 or 1 based on the buzz. The buzzing problem from Samsung really is unacceptable, but everything else is outstanding. If Panasonic had a comparably priced set with a modern bezel and better Anti-Glare filter, I would be returning this set for one. Until then, I feel Samsung wins in all categories except product quality and black-levels.
1 Star DEAD ON ARRIVAL
Bought this after viewing in BB and thought it was the best picture I had seen. Got it home and it would even power on… Call Samsung to see if I was just missing the obvious but nope just DOA. No apologies, just we need to arrange for a support person to come out. I don’t know about others but when I buy something for $1800 it better work perfectly out of the box. Needless to say it went back… Buyer beware!
Of course BB’s response was equally pathetic. You would think in this economic climate, retailers would be tripping over themselves to ensure consumers spending multiple thousands are getting the best service. I eventually had to drive the TV back myself and the only person to apologize for the inconvenience and bad experience was the warehouse guy who helped be unload. The store manager never said a word and that was after 45 minutes on death hold which ended in me hanging up and driving to the store…
